LONDON, ENGLAND – 4 NOVEMBER 2025

Community Jameel is delighted to announce that Mariam Ashraf, a graduate of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo, has been selected among The King's Foundation's 35 under 35.

Established in 2025 in celebration of The King’s Foundation’s 35th anniversary and to promote its mission, the 35 under 35 is a network of makers and changemakers.

Its members represent a diverse and pioneering range of fields, including traditional craftsmanship, sustainable fashion, architecture, health, and environmental stewardship, reflecting the foundation's broad commitment to building a more sustainable future.

Mariam graduated in 2022 from the Jameel House in Cairo, a collaboration between The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts (KFSTA), Community Jameel and the Cultural Development Fund in Egypt.

During her time there, Mariam specialised in the craft of gypsum and participated in the Jameel House in Cairo exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art, where she showcased a heritage gypsum panel inspired by a piece in the museum’s collection.

Following her foundational training, Mariam contributed to the Patterns of Cairo project, documenting the geometric and floral motifs of historic Cairo, and later founded her brand, MOMA, dedicated to sharing her artistic work and helping preserve this vital cultural heritage.

Currently pursuing a master’s degree in traditional arts at the KFSTA in London, Mariam’s selection among the 35 under 35 recognises her creative journey and dedication to traditional craftsmanship.

The selection highlights the continued success of the pioneering collaborations between Community Jameel and The King’s Foundation, and reaffirms the importance of nurturing the next generation of traditional artists.
