Andrea Bocelli performs live in Pompeii with Bocelli-Jameel scholars
World-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli performed among the ancient ruins of Pompeii on 27-28 July 2025 in a special concert that also featured Clara Barbier Serrano and Laura Mekhail, two former recipients of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation–Community Jameel scholarship.
Presented by Community Jameel and Jameel Motors Italia, the event showcased the work of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF) and included over 60 young singers from the ABF Voices of Italy choir.

A celebration of heritage and inclusion
Andrea Bocelli described the event as a celebration of “making music together, building friendships and sharing culture”.
The Pompeii concert combined heritage, youth and music, turning one of the world’s most iconic ancient sites into a platform for the next generation of performers.
A longstanding partnership
A key initiative in the close partnership between Community Jameel and ABF, the Bocelli‑Jameel scholarship was established in 2019 to support outstanding singers from around the world to study at the Royal College of Music in London, the world's top-ranked conservatoire.
Awarded on the basis of merit and financial need, the scholarship has supported five students.
Clara, a soprano and the inaugural recipient of the scholarship in 2020, has performed at major international events, including with Maestro Bocelli in Lourdes, France, in 2023.
Egyptian soprano Laura, awarded the scholarship in 2021, performed with the maestro in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, in 2023.
The other recipients of the scholarship are Seonwoo Lee, Anastasia Koorn and Henna Mun.
Beyond music, the two organisations collaborated to support health systems in Italy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mohammed Jameel KBE, founder and chairman of Community Jameel, sits on the ABF advisory board.
