BORDEAUX, FRANCE – 26 FEBRUARY 2026

Community Jameel welcomes Bordeaux Sciences Économiques (BxSE) to the Alliance for Data, Evaluation and Policy Training (ADEPT) as a new pathway university for courses from ADEPT and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology online course programme (MITx).

Convened by the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and Community Jameel, ADEPT is a global network of campuses and partners dedicated to training the next generation of researchers and decision-makers.

ADEPT's institutional members include: the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d'économie appliquée in Côte d'Ivoire; Insper in São Paulo; the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs; and the Paris School of Economics.

Combining academic excellence with policy-relevant research

A well-established and internationally active research centre, BxSE – located in Bordeaux, south-west France – combines academic excellence with a strong commitment to policy-relevant research, which is core to ADEPT’s vision.

One of France’s leading schools of economics, BxSE brings together a community of around 160 researchers, lecturers, engineers, administrative staff, and doctoral students.

Through research in economics and across other disciplines, BxSE aims to make a significant contribution to the major societal challenges, on themes such as climate change and biodiversity, inequality, globalisation, and financial markets.

Starting this spring, BxSE will recognise the Data, Economics, and Design of Policy (DEDP) MicroMasters credential from MITx for advanced standing in its Master’s in Development Economics.
