Adam Osman is scientific director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab Middle East and North Africa (J-PAL MENA) and an associate professor of economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. His work utilises randomised control trials, machine learning and economic theory to improve our understanding of which policies work best in improving the lives of the poor.
His work covers several topics including access to finance, private sector development, labour markets and women's involvement in the job market, international trade and transport frictions, with a special emphasis on issues that affect the MENA region.
