The third edition of Cairo International Art District CIAD will kick off from October 10-30
On 10 October 2023, 'Harvesting hope', an interactive, audiovisual exhibition on communities, tradition and climate change in the Middle East and North Africa by Jonathan Rashad, opened in Cairo as part of the third edition of Cairo International Art District. Co-produced by Community Jameel, the exhibit forms part of a wider project that engages with the work of the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab and the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action to reveal food and water challenges impacting farming, pastoralist and fisher communities in Egypt, Kenya, the UAE and Morocco.
Presented at Cinema Radio in Downtown Cairo, the exhibit captures stories of adversity, resilience and hope as these communities grapple with rising sea levels, droughts and extreme temperatures, as well as the importance of merging traditional practices with science for environmental adaptation.
